WHO IS DARLINGTON EKWELI OBIEKEZIE?
Darlington Obiekezie Chukwuekezie Ekweli is a Nigerian politician and business man, a geologist who hails from Amikwo, in Awka, Anambra state. He is a dedicated member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and he is currently contesting as member, Anambra state house of assembly (Awka south constituency 1) for the first time in the 2019 general election.
Born in Awka, Anambra state in May 1989 into the family of Mr/Mrs. Dickson Ekweli of igweogige village of Awka. Mother Mrs. Jane Ekweli hails from the Ifejimalu family of Umuodu village in Okpuno.
He attended Handmaids Infant Jesus Nursery and Primary School, Awka and Iyiagu Primary School, Awka where he got his first school Leaving Certificate in the year 1999 and proceeded to Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka and Evangel College Okokomaiko, Lagos where he obtained West African Senior School Certificate in 2006.
In 2008, he gained admission into Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka to study Geological Science and graduated in 2012.
In 2013 he embarked on his national call to Oyo state where he did the mandatory one year youth service program in honour of his fatherland.
His unquenchable appetite for learning made him to enroll for quality Health, Safety and Environment Training, Survival at Sea Course, Helicopter Under-Water Escape Training, Defensive Driving Course and into Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport where he obtained International Diploma.
Soaked with insatiable appetite for Entrepreneurship which saw him horning his skills as a Director at Jigablaze Nig. Ltd.- a general commercial company with a national network that supports investments across the entire supply chain ranging from sourcing, procurement, storage and distribution of products and services. It is noteworthy to know that Jigablaze Nig. Ltd associate with GAMERS PUB, TUDOR GLASS, ARC AJO CONCEPTS and Iyke-Xeptionx Limited. His exceptional records of achievement in Jigablaze Nig. Ltd as an innovative leader are still palpably felt, and cannot be forgotten in a hurry in the history of Jigablaze Nig. Ltd.
MY MISSION
From my consultation with political stakeholders within my constituency, my family, friends and well wishers, I, Darlington Ekweli wish to relay to electorates in my constituency that I will be seeking your support in my quest to represent my people in Anambra State House of Assembly (Awka South Constituency 1) in the 2019 general election on the platform of People's Democratic Party(PDP).
My reasons for offering myself for a seat in the state house of assembly is to contribute to improving the welfare of the people of Awka south and to see to better legislation in Anambra state. I believe rather strongly that we can have a better constituency with my emergence because I am completely sold out to the goal of delivering better representation to my people.
I, Darlington Ekweli is poised to cause changes in the representation of my people, which is currently without visible benefits as at today. I humbly offer myself to ndi Awka south constituency 1 as a man on a mission to deliver visible representative gains. I will do whatever it takes to wipe away as many tears of ndi Awka south constituency 1 as possible.
I am armed with the combination of street wisdom, intellectual capacity and strength of character which is most of what is required to represent my people.
Ndi be anyi, we are all aware of the low quality representation that have bedeviled our constituency over the years. It is no exaggeration to say that we have been shortchanged by people with no real intention to deliver on their promises. I have come to you this time, promising selfless leadership and a complete deviation from this age-long curse that have delivered little or nothing so far. I therefore plead with you today to give me your supports, through your votes and prayers to realize this singular objective.
I ask the entire people of Awka and Okpuno, friends and all residents of Awka south constituency 1, to give us a chance to prove our worth. We have to work together to achieve our fundamental objectives of Unity, equity, progress, youth empowerment and accessibility, communication between the elected and the electorates etc.
I come with realistic and achievable plan that will lead to new jobs and more opportunities. We are determined to rebuild our constituency.
Awka south constituency 1 must be great again in our life time. Why should there be marginalisation and neglect by the political system that identifies the people as the real custodians of power? We all would be stake holders in this government because I share the thought that all men are created equal, that we are all endowed by the creator with certain inalienable rights, among which are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. This is the time to embrace a distinct mandate that guarantees win win for all.
The challenges facing Awka south constituency 1 appear huge. We have experienced decay and negligence and those have betrayed our youths. Our old people have become despondent hence they do not seem to see a positive future. The time we are in demands a paradigm shift from a weird Past because we are here to restore hope.
The chief essence of "Not too Young to Run" law clearly manifests the need for creative and innovative young people in leadership position. Power belongs to the people hence it is important for our people to choose a candidate who is accessible and offers reliable representation. That is what we stand for.I implore you today to desist from selling our votes in exchange of financial inducement ahead of the upcoming election. Apathy in the political process disturbs me. That is the reason why Amikwo or Okpuno have never represented Awka south constituency 1 in the Anambra state house of assembly. Both communities contribute immensely to the development and administration of the constituency. I have come to bridge this gap with your support. It is without any iota of doubt that it is time for our voice to be heard.
I, Darlington Ekweli offers something new. As someone that is imbued with the requisite ideas that will improve the fortune of Awka south constituency 1. My heart cry is that we all should share in this desire for distinct representation, and should consciously put effort towards its realization.
I was born in Anambra state and witnessed from childhood the glory and splendour accessible, reliable representation brought to a relatively unknown cities and town like Umumbo, Aguleri and Agulu and I understand that accessible, reliable representation is sustainable. Awka south constituency 1 is poised to go that route.

QUALITY EDUCATION:
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Its aim is in knowledge, not of facts but of values. My contribution to ensuring quality education would include but not limited to;
- Establishment of free education coaching centres across Awka south constituency 1 for learners preparing for external examinations such as Basic Entrance Certificate Examination, WAEC, NECO, UTME e.t.c.
- Provision of scholarships to indigent students that will cut across Nigeria’s educational levels.
- Provision of visual aids, teaching/ instructional materials e.g. multimedia components, textbooks, desktop computers and laptops. These materials would aid learning and makes teaching and transfer of knowledge effective.
EQUITY AND JUSTICE:
My participatory approach will ensure that the constituents are carried along in the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of constituency projects through organisation of regular constituent bi-annual meetings, WhatsApp group meetings and accessible online platforms.
I will uphold a cordial relationship with our constituents. I promise that if elected, I would use the good office to facilitate collaboration with other arms of government to bring about infrastructural development (stadium, roads, portable water e.t.c.) and economic empowerment.
SKILL CREATION:
Human capital is a measure of skill, education, capacity and attributes of labour which influence a person’s productivity and earning potential. Human capital development enthrall relatively more importance in labour surplus countries, you would agree with me that Nigeria is a part of the countries with surplus human resources. With effective empowerment in vocational education; (tailoring, Graphics design, Sports e.t.c.), health trainings ( first-aid, fire safety, diets e.t.c.), and moral values in our established free educational coaching centres across the constituency, this will transform the potential human resources we posses into human capital to achieve a legacy of sustainable development across Awka south constituency
We shall promote the ideology of WHAT YOU EARN IS MORE SUSTAINABLE THAN WHAT YOU ARE GIVEN.
AFFORDABLE HEALTH:
The rise in cost of health care is quite alarming. You pay for the drugs, syringe, gloves, hospital consumables and one day you might be asked to pay for fuel to run the hospital on generator while they attend to you. Funny but who knows?
This story breaks our hearts, but this is just one out of so many others. The cost of school fees or healthcare should be flexible, convenient, affordable to deliver efficient and effective value.
I will fight for you and your families as hard as I know how, to access the health insurance plan.
